Governance

This text is MAYERA Medical Journal's, word for word as on mayeramj.com. MMJ is currently MAYERA Ink's only journal.

MAYERA separates ownership from editorial decision-making. Ownership or financial responsibility does not confer editorial authority.

Editorial independence

Founder / Publisher

Responsible for ownership, establishment, financial administration, infrastructure and sustainability. Cannot direct individual manuscript decisions.

Editor-in-Chief

Has independent authority over editorial content, manuscript evaluation, peer-review decisions, acceptance and rejection, publication priority, corrections and retractions.

Editors and reviewers

Disclose conflicts and recuse themselves where appropriate. A replacement editor oversees any manuscript where an editor is conflicted.

Governance principles

  1. The Founder/Publisher has no unilateral authority to accept or reject manuscripts.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief has independent authority over editorial content, peer review and publication decisions.
  3. Editors recuse themselves from manuscripts involving significant conflicts of interest.
  4. Mentorship and peer review remain separate processes.
  5. Authorship depends on actual contribution, not seniority or position.
  6. Contributor statements are used where appropriate.
  7. Negative, null or inconclusive results are not rejected merely because they are not statistically significant.
  8. Fees, if introduced, never guarantee acceptance.
  9. No indexing or accreditation claims are made before formal confirmation.
  10. Corrections, expressions of concern and retractions primarily serve correction of the scientific record.

Manuscripts from the journal's own team

Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief, editors, editorial board members, publisher, or journal staff must be handled by an appropriately qualified, independent editor who has no relevant conflict of interest. The submitting individual must not participate in the editorial decision or access confidential reviewer identities or reports beyond what is necessary and authorised. The manuscript remains subject to the same peer-review and publication standards as other submissions.

Standards

MAYERA's governance follows the ICMJE Recommendations and COPE Core Practices. Policies are reviewed periodically against developments in research ethics, publication ethics, AI, data governance, peer review, open science, copyright and indexing.
